International Conference on Cold Regions Engineering

The 18th International Conference on Cold Regions Engineering will be held at the Quebec City Convention Centre, in Canada, and the 8th Canadian Permafrost Conference will run in parallel. The theme of this international conference is sustainable infrastructure for climate change more broadly, with a particular focus on earth sciences, seasonally and perennially frozen soils, transportation infrastructure, structures, buildings and materials, and water ice engineering more specifically.

The Canadian Permafrost Association (CPA) and the Canadian National Committee for the International Permafrost Association (CNC-IPA) have announced that they will jointly fund up to 20 grants to encourage participation by students at the two conferences. The grants will cover the student registration fee, which includes access to the sessions, coffee breaks, and lunches.

Materials in Nuclear Energy Systems

Materials in Nuclear Energy Systems, or MiNES, is a relatively new conference created to serve the fission reactor materials community and co-sponsored by the Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS) and the American Nuclear Society (ANS).

This year, the MiNES conference will focus on several technical tracks: irradiation damage, mechanical properties of irradiated materials, irradiated microstructures, radiation effects simulation and evaluation techniques, advanced alloys and materials for nuclear systems, integrated phenomena in reactor materials, advanced fuels and actinide materials, and nuclear fuel cycles. Attendees can submit abstracts to speak at the event on one of these specialized tracks.
